Highgate Students Unlock Career Secrets at Inspiring 'Learn to Earn' Day

Young Enterprise partnered with La Sainte Union Catholic School in Highgate to deliver an inspiring 'Learn to Earn' careers day for Year 8 pupils, giving students an early insight into the opportunities and ambitions that can shape their futures.

Throughout the day, the Highgate pupils explored their individual strengths, considered a wide range of professional pathways, and developed a deeper understanding of financial independence.

Interactive workshops introduced students to practical life skills including budgeting, income tax, and the realities of the cost of living, while also demonstrating how classroom learning connects directly to future success.

The event placed a particular emphasis on applying mathematical thinking in real-world contexts, helping students recognize the value of the skills they develop every day in school.

Careers lead Hilary Tait said: “Events like this bring learning to life. They encourage students to think ambitiously and begin imagining the many possibilities open to them.”

One Year 8 student added: “It was really interesting to see how our skills link to real careers.”

The 'Learn to Earn' programme forms part of La Sainte Union’s wider award-winning careers education provision, built around the school’s vision of developing 'Bright Women with Bold Futures'.

Through a carefully planned programme of enrichment and guidance, pupils are encouraged to grow in confidence, raise aspirations, and prepare for successful futures.

Headteacher Mrs Fegan said: “This is about more than careers - it is about empowering our young women with the confidence, knowledge and ambition to thrive.”
