Logistics professionals are actively engaging with young people to showcase the exciting opportunities within their industry. Staff from Knowles Logistics, based in Wimblington, recently participated in a careers fair at Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech, providing students with a practical introduction to the logistics sector and its diverse career paths.

Alex Knowles, managing director of Knowles Logistics, shared his enthusiasm: "It was great to see so many young people showing real curiosity about how the sector operates and the skills it relies on. Thank you to Thomas Clarkson Academy for welcoming us and to all the students for their enthusiasm and engagement. It’s inspiring to see the next generation taking an interest in the future of logistics."

Hands-On Learning Experience

To give pupils a tangible taste of the industry, the Knowles team organized an interactive challenge using a remote-control HGV lorry and forklift truck. Students worked in pairs to retrieve a pallet of sweets and load it onto the lorry as quickly and accurately as possible. The winning team completed the task in just 58 seconds, with both teams receiving Knowles-branded goodie bags as rewards.

Commitment to Nurturing Young Talent

Mr. Knowles emphasized the importance of investing in future professionals: "Alongside this, nurturing young talent is an equally important priority for us. Schools like Thomas Clarkson Academy play a crucial role in developing the next generation, and we are committed to building strong, lasting relationships with them. By raising awareness of the logistics sector and demonstrating the wide range of careers it offers, we hope to inspire young people to consider a future in an exciting industry with limitless opportunities."

Supporting Community Safety Initiatives

In addition to career inspiration, Knowles Logistics also supported Thomas Eaton Primary Academy by donating lollipop-style road signs featuring messages such as ‘slow down’ and ‘park responsibly’. These signs aim to remind drivers to be extra careful around the school and support ongoing road safety education.

With a history spanning more than 90 years, Knowles Logistics continues to invest in its local community, demonstrating a strong commitment to both education and safety.
