Inspiring Future STEM Leaders: Intasite's Interactive Experience for Students

Engaging the Next Generation of STEM Innovators

A Teesside-based technology firm, Intasite, has taken significant steps to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders through an interactive work experience day for year 9 students. This initiative aims to provide a valuable insight into the tech industry, helping to break down gender stereotypes and offering inspiration for future career paths.

Intasite, known for its expertise in streamlining safety and site access for critical industries, partnered with the Power of Women’s (POW) Female Empowerment Programme. During this hands-on day, students from North Shore Academy explored various topics including decision-making, financial planning, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, and female leadership, all while discovering career opportunities in the digital and tech sectors.

Real-World Applications

The students had the chance to create their own health and safety induction video for Stockton’s LevelQ commercial office space, showcasing the practical applications of technology in their learning experience.

Danielle Croce, Intasite’s commercial director, expressed her hopes that the students found inspiration during their time at Intasite, stating: "We hope the students enjoyed their time with us and found inspiration for their future career paths. They were a fantastic group to work with, and we had a wonderful afternoon sharing insights into the tech industry."

This initiative reflects Intasite’s commitment to creating youth opportunities, further evidenced by a collaboration with Middlesbrough College that led to the hiring of Kayhan Kajumi, the firm’s first software developer apprentice.

Creativity and Engagement

Paul Martin, Intasite’s creative director, noted the creativity and enthusiasm the students brought to the project, saying, "Helping them turn their ideas into a professional health and safety video was a rewarding experience, and we hope it gave them valuable insight into the possibilities within the tech and digital industries."

Claire Preston, POW's head of operations, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating: "This is exactly the kind of day that young people need. The aim of POW is to motivate equality of opportunity and break down gender stereotypes, showing students what is possible regardless of gender or postcode. The way that Intasite engaged with the students to really excite them about their business and work was brilliant and hugely appreciated."
