Inspiring Futures: Claire Young Motivates Students at Careers Fair

Claire Young Inspires the Next Generation
Former 'The Apprentice' finalist, Claire Young, inspired pupils at the Royal Hospital School's careers fair. The entrepreneur and TV star shared her journey from reality TV to building successful businesses.
Key Themes Discussed
She spoke to pupils from Years 10 to 13, discussing resilience, creativity, and embracing challenges in the modern work environment. The careers fair, held last Wednesday, featured over 45 exhibitors from various industries, employers, and higher education providers, all gathered to guide and inspire pupils as they began to think about their future careers.
Diverse Industries Represented
Representatives from fields such as the armed forces, performing arts, automotive technology, and law were present, allowing pupils to learn and connect with professionals across a wide range of industries. RHS alumni returned to share their experiences and provide guidance, including Molly Williamson, Jo Pape, Evie Thorpe, Georgia Ironmonger, and Harry Sargeant.
Preparation and Engagement
Pupils used tutor time beforehand to research exhibitors, explore areas of interest, and develop thoughtful questions. Lauren Bayliss-Fuller, head of futures at RHS, who organized the event, emphasized the importance of preparing students for a future full of possibility. She stated, "Careers education is about so much more than just 'what's next', it's about broadening horizons, building confidence and helping young people discover how their skills and passions will meet the needs of the future world of work."
In a rapidly evolving labour market, where future careers may not even exist yet, events like this help pupils adapt, network, innovate, and take ownership of their journey. RHS expressed gratitude to all the exhibitors and Claire Young for her inspiring words.
