Daikin UK, a leader in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, has partnered with climate education specialist Generation C, supported by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), to introduce a curriculum-linked climate education programme in Greater Manchester schools. This initiative aims to bridge the green skills gap and inspire students aged 7-14 towards sustainable careers in the burgeoning green economy.
Turning Climate Anxiety into Action
The programme is designed to transform climate anxiety into positive action by providing students with a clearer vision for a sustainable future. Through unique learning resources developed in collaboration with Daikin UK experts, students will explore energy-efficient technologies such as air source heat pumps and discover career paths in the renewables and HVAC sectors.
Pilot Schools and Regional Rollout
Launching initially in two pilot schools—Butterstile Primary School in Prestwich and St Ambrose Barlow Secondary School in Swinton—the programme will later expand across Greater Manchester. It leverages Daikin UK's expertise in decarbonisation and Generation C's approach to connecting education with industry.
Voices from the Initiative
Tomoji Miki, Managing Director of Daikin UK, said: "Daikin UK is committed to a sustainable future through technological innovation. Partnering with Generation C allows us to invest directly in the next generation, showcasing exciting careers essential for the UK’s transition to Net Zero."
Phil Wharton, Co-founder of Generation C, added: "Education is crucial in unlocking effective solutions to climate change. Partnering with Daikin and GMCA empowers young people with hope, purpose, and the tools to build a sustainable future."
