Isle of Wight Farming Conference Raises Nearly £800 for Rural Careers Fund

Successful Fundraising at the Isle of Wight Farming Conference

Natural Enterprise, the organizers of the Isle of Wight Farming Conference, proudly announced a donation of £798 to the Rural Careers Fund after the successful conference held on 27th February 2025.

The Rural Careers Fund is dedicated to supporting individuals under 25 (with exceptions for older applicants) who have strong connections to the Isle of Wight. The fund enhances the Island’s agricultural sector by providing:

• Annual scholarships up to £3,000 for full-time qualification courses.
• Bursaries up to £200 available year-round for short courses, equipment, or accreditation fees.

This year’s conference, themed “Striking the Right Balance,” gathered farmers, land managers, industry experts, and key stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in modern agriculture on the Isle of Wight. Key discussions included balancing food production with environmental stewardship, adapting to climate change, and navigating future farming subsidies. This event fostered crucial dialogue for the Island’s agricultural future.

The Wight Rural Hub showcased its free support services aimed at helping farming businesses maintain resilience and capitalize on future opportunities and funding. They encouraged the Island's business community to support the rural sector.

Graham Biss, Managing Director of Natural Enterprise, expressed his satisfaction:

“The enthusiasm and engagement from all participants made this inaugural conference a great success. We’re particularly pleased that the event has generated significant funds for the Rural Careers Fund, which will help nurture the next generation of farming talent on the Isle of Wight.”

Special thanks were given to the event’s headline sponsors: BCM Wilson Hill, IW National Landscape, Moore Barlow, Southern Water, and Wight Rural Hub, whose generous support made both the conference and the donation possible.

The success of this year's event has already sparked planning for the Isle of Wight Farming Conference 2026. Natural Enterprise welcomes input on topics, speakers, and panel themes that would provide the most value to the agricultural community on the Island.
