Jade Cross has announced her retirement from football, ending an extraordinary career with Wolverhampton Wanderers that established her as one of the greatest players in the history of women’s football at the club.
A loyal servant from childhood to retirement, Cross scored a remarkable 178 goals in 314 appearances, cementing her place among the club’s all-time greats. She departs as an FA Women’s National League Play-Off winner and one of only four women inducted into the Wolves ‘300 Club’, an honour recognized inside Molineux.
Her contribution spans more than two decades, with her commitment, professionalism, and consistency helping shape Wolves Women during one of the most successful periods in their history.
Cross made her senior debut in August 2012 alongside her twin sister Emma, who retired in 2025. Having first joined Wolves at age nine, Jade embodies the meaning of a true ‘one club woman’. She balanced elite football with a full-time career as a chartered accountant.
She played a defining role in the club’s rise to the second tier, helping secure promotion in 2021 and driving the team to a second successive league title the following season. Among her 178 goals, memorable moments include her 150th strike against West Bromwich Albion in January 2022 and a decisive goal against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup in 2021. Her final goal came in January 2026 against Birmingham City in the Challenge Cup.
Everyone at Wolves thanks Jade for her 20 years of service and wishes her the best for the future. She was presented with a framed shirt by Dan McNamara at the club’s celebration evening. She will always be an Old Gold legend.
