Drivers on the M1 near Rotherham are facing significant delays after a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) careered off the road and crashed.

According to traffic reports, the M1 southbound entry slip road is closed at Junction 35 (A629 Cowley Hill), affecting the Rotherham and Chapeltown area. The accident involved a lorry that left the carriageway, leading to long delays and congestion stretching back to Junction 36 (Barnsley South/ Hoyland).
Current Traffic Conditions
- Lane one of four is closed on the main carriageway after the road was blocked for approximately forty minutes.
- The entry slip remains closed, with the incident ongoing since around 11am.
- National Highways has issued a statement confirming that a HGV carrying lemonade has come to rest off the carriageway with its trailer overturned.
