Northern Regional College Students Excel at SkillBuild NI 2025

Students from Northern Regional College showcased their exceptional skills at The Construction Industry Training Board NI (CITB NI) annual SkillBuild NI Regional Qualifier Competition 2025, held at South Eastern Regional College (SERC), Downpatrick campus. This prestigious event tests skills, technique, and ability under tight timeframes, spotlighting the top talent in 11 different trade areas within construction apprenticeship programmes across Northern Ireland.

A Platform for Excellence

Over 100 of the brightest recruits competed in categories including Brickwork, Furniture & Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Electrical Installation, and more. The competition not only highlights professionalism and talent but also sets the stage for future industry leaders.

Outstanding Achievements

  • Daniel Beckett secured 1st place in Bricklaying
  • Jeremiasz Guzik took 1st place and Robbie Buchanan 2nd place in Carpentry
  • Matthew Conly earned 2nd place in Furniture & Cabinet Making
  • Charlie Fleck achieved 1st place and Alliemarie Conway 2nd place in Joinery

These winners may advance to represent Northern Ireland at the SkillBuild UK national final later this year.

Supported by the Department for the Economy and local construction companies, SkillBuild elevates the status of professional and technical education. Barry Neilson OBE, Chief Executive CITB NI, praised the participants, emphasizing the competition's role in shaping the future workforce and fostering industry growth.
