Optical and Audiology Careers Shine in Cannock: Success Stories from Specsavers Teams

Specsavers in Cannock Town Centre and its sister store inside Sainsbury’s on Voyager Drive are celebrating the achievements of six colleagues who have excelled through recent qualifications and apprenticeships. This marks a significant milestone in their careers, showcasing the value of development opportunities and apprenticeship programmes in the optical and audiology sectors.
Millie Bucknall and Steph Forrest: Level 4 Optical Assistant Qualification
At the Cannock Town Centre store, Millie Bucknall and Steph Forrest have successfully passed their Level 4 optical assistant qualification, building on their previous Level 3 qualifications. Millie shares, 'The course gave me more detailed knowledge about my day-to-day role and a deeper understanding of the products we offer.' She now feels more confident in advising customers and supporting the dispensing team, with aspirations to explore a role in management.
Jessica Wise: Customer Service Apprenticeship
Jessica Wise has completed her Customer Service Apprenticeship, which significantly improved her confidence and communication skills. 'The apprenticeship opened up a whole new world for me,' she says. Jessica is now aiming to become an optician, starting with becoming a Clinical Technician and then qualifying as a dispensing optician.
Donna Brown: Cert 3 Qualification
Donna Brown, another team member, recently completed her Cert 3 qualification, enhancing her ability to support customers with their prescriptions and lens options. Donna is now considering progressing to Cert 4 and possibly taking on the dispensing optician course.
Nicola Tunnicliff: Audiology Practitioner Exam
Nicola Tunnicliff passed her Audiology Practitioner exam, enabling her to carry out triage and repair appointments. Transitioning from optics to hearing care, Nicola's achievement is a testament to her dedication and the supportive environment at Specsavers.
Sennah Ali: Professional Certification in Glaucoma
Optometrist Sennah Ali recently completed her Professional Certification in Glaucoma with Aston University. This advanced training allows for earlier detection and better management of glaucoma, a leading cause of preventable blindness in the UK.
Jaspreet Dhaliwal, store director at Specsavers Cannock, expresses pride in the team's achievements: 'Their enthusiasm and growth is an inspiration to the whole team.' Specsavers offers apprenticeships and development programmes that provide hands-on experience, great training, and nationally recognised qualifications, open to anyone over the age of 16.
