A Thriving Careers Fair in Watford and Rickmansworth
More than 1,000 job seekers and students flocked to the Generation Watford & Three Rivers careers fair at the Watford Woodside Leisure Centre on March 31 to explore job opportunities in their local area.
Engaging Employers
The event showcased forty employers, including notable names like Warner Bros. Studios, Skanska, the Army, and Watford Community Housing. These employers set up stalls to connect with students from local secondary schools, providing insights into various career paths and opportunities.
Focus on Sustainability
Elen Dolder, the climate change, sustainability, and recycling officer at Three Rivers District Council, emphasized the importance of engaging young talent in sustainability and green skills as the country moves towards net-zero. She stated, "We have a skilled and talented workforce in our areas that have ample opportunities for our young people to get involved in."
Empowering Future Generations
Shea Costello, the careers hub operational lead at Hertfordshire Futures, highlighted the event's role in empowering the next generation. "Generation Watford and Three Rivers empowered the next generation in Watford and Three Rivers. Together, we inspired ambition, fostered connections, and supported pathways to rewarding careers."
Support and Collaboration
The event was partly funded by Innovate UK’s Fast Followers programme and organized in collaboration with the Hertfordshire Careers Hub, showcasing a strong community effort to support local youth in their career journeys.
