At a celebratory breakfast attended by actor and director Peter Capaldi, BAFTA highlighted that this increased funding is designed to help the next generation overcome financial barriers to progress in their careers. This includes support for filmmakers, game designers, actors, producers, editors, and more.

UK Scholars Program

BAFTA has named its latest UK Scholars, each receiving up to $16,000 (£12,000) for tuition fees or living costs. Additionally, they benefit from mentoring and free access to BAFTA's year-round events.

US Support Packages

For US applicants, packages are worth up to $60,000, supporting studies at top institutions like Duke, UCLA, USC, NYU, and the American Film Institute. This includes comprehensive career support and mentoring.

Focus on Video Games and Creative Arts

Awards extend to the video game sector, with recipients such as game producers Aidan Sealy and Matthew Stevens. The program also includes artists, illustrators, animators, sound professionals, and scholars like Frances Acton, who is studying BA Computer Arts at Abertay University as a BAFTA Reuben Scholar.

Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, stated: "Opening doors for the next generation of storytellers is at the heart of BAFTA’s mission. Our bursaries and scholarships remove practical and financial barriers, helping talented individuals pursue their ambitions in film, games, and television. This support can cover everything from driving lessons to specialist equipment and tuition fees, making a real difference in their career journeys."
