Exciting News for Aspiring Artists at Coombeshead Academy

Aspiring young artists in Newton Abbot are about to get a creative boost! Coombeshead Academy, part of Education South West, is launching its brand-new Level 2 CREATE course, designed to spark artistic talent and pave the way for future designers, painters, and sculptors.

Whether you dream of crafting bold sculptures, designing intricate textiles, or mastering the art of printmaking, this innovative programme provides the perfect stepping stone to turn imagination into reality.

Course Details

This offering is tailor-made for students who may not yet be ready for Level 3 qualifications (such as A-Levels). It provides the necessary foundation to progress into higher education or embark on a career in the creative industries. The Level 2 CREATE course combines essential academic skills with hands-on artistic exploration.

Supportive Learning Environment

Students will be supported through a study skills programme, preparing them for future academic challenges while developing their creative talents across a range of artistic disciplines. The course starts in September 2025 and will be led by experienced Art & Design teachers Emily Parr and Tracey Williams, specializing in 3D design and textiles, respectively.

Admission Requirements

The course is open to students with at least 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, providing a pathway for those passionate about creativity to continue their artistic journeys. Ms. Parr and Ms. Williams believe this programme will offer invaluable opportunities for young people to explore their potential and prepare for Level 3 courses or careers in the arts.
