Connecting Students with Top Employers

Dozens of employers gathered to meet students and discuss career opportunities at the University of Worcester Careers Fair. This event connected students with regional companies, giving employers a chance to meet potential graduate recruits and boosting employability.

Student Experiences and Success Stories

Jack Woodward Spalding, a fourth-year accounting and finance student, shared his insights: "The Careers Fair has been a great opportunity to meet employers and get a real sense of their company culture. The environment is great, and everyone is friendly. I’ve been able to speak to lots of different employers to see what they’re offering."

He praised the university’s focus on employability, noting: "We’ve had sessions on our CVs and LinkedIn, and how we present our professional branding, and I’ve seen that help a lot of people getting their applications out for jobs. I think that leads to a much better employment rate for us after university."

Organizer Insights and Employer Engagement

Organized by the University of Worcester Business School, the fair attracted hundreds of students eager to explore graduate and placement opportunities. Kesceth Gunaseelan, representing Severn Trent and a former student of the University’s Business School, commented: "The event is brilliant. It’s gone really well, and we’ve had a lot of interest from students from a variety of courses at the University who were keen to find out more about working with us."

Mr. Gunaseelan also recognized the university’s impact on employability: "Having studied here myself I know how much Worcester does for its students in terms of career progression, and at Severn Trent we’ve got the opportunities available for people who have these skills."

University Achievements and Opportunities

The university currently ranks first in the UK for sustained employment of graduates, according to the Government’s Longitudinal Education Outcomes Data. Janey Robins, placements and internships coordinator at the University of Worcester, highlighted the diversity of businesses present: "There are a range of businesses here, from local firms to national corporations, and everything in between."

She emphasized the strong engagement: "There have been so many conversations taking place between our students and the employers who are talking to them about placement opportunities, internships, part-time work, and full-time careers."
