Explore Growing Opportunities in the Rural Sector
The Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) is launching Route to Rural Week starting October 21, with the goal of attracting new talent to the rural professional sector.
With evolving dynamics in the countryside, there are now more opportunities than ever in areas like agricultural valuation, advising, and roles that support farmers, landowners, environmental charities, and infrastructure providers.
Interest in rural careers is on the rise, evidenced by an 11% increase in university applications for rural land management since the debut of Jeremy Clarkson's popular series, Clarkson's Farm, which has brought fresh attention to the rural economy in an engaging manner.
This initiative is designed to highlight a wide array of professional career paths, including farming, estate management, property valuation, and infrastructure projects. Route to Rural Week provides young people with a virtual insight day to enhance their skills and explore potential career opportunities in this vibrant sector.
The CAAV actively collaborates with schools and universities, participating in open days and careers fairs to guide students on apprenticeships and educational routes into the rural economy. This year, a targeted social media campaign will further emphasize the diversity of work available in the profession.
Jeremy Moody, CAAV secretary and adviser, remarked: "It's been refreshing to witness an influx of young professionals showing interest in rural careers. Route to Rural Week is all about building on this momentum, opening conversations, and creating opportunities.
The rural economy is expanding and offers multiple career paths. While discovering these opportunities might seem challenging, Route to Rural aims to open doors and showcase what's available to inspire the next generation of talent."
