A career on the road could soon become a reality for job seekers in the UK. A new bus driver recruitment event is being hosted by Careers Wales and Working Wales in partnership with Arriva, offering the chance to explore exciting job opportunities.

This event is designed for individuals interested in becoming bus drivers at Arriva’s Wrexham and Chester depots. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet an Arriva instructor in small, informal groups to learn about current vacancies, training, and career progression.

Eligibility and Requirements
Arriva is seeking candidates aged 18 and over who have held a full car licence for at least 12 months. Applicants must have no previous driving bans and no more than six points on their licence. No experience driving large vehicles is necessary, and a DBS check is not required.
Booking Information
There are six bookable timeslots available: 11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm, 1pm, and 1.30pm. Each session is limited to eight attendees. Those interested in attending must book a place in advance via Eventbrite by searching for “Careers Wales and Arriva bus driver information event - 15 January, 2026.”

Careers Wales staff will be on hand throughout the event to offer free, one-to-one employability support or to arrange follow-up appointments. For those unable to attend, additional information and careers support are available through the Working Wales website at workingwales.gov.wales. With limited places available, those interested in attending the recruitment event are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
