Unlocking Career Opportunities: UCFB Students Explore the Thrills of Motor Racing at Silverstone

A Day at Silverstone
UCFB ended 2024 in superb style, with students from both campuses meeting up in Northamptonshire for an industry insight day at the iconic Silverstone.
Students from UCFB Wembley and UCFB Manchester arrived at the Home of the British Grand Prix, ready for a day of learning about the motor racing industry and potential careers within it.
Networking and Learning
The day began with students listening to and networking with multiple professionals in the motor racing industry, including UCFB graduate Jamie Glatzel, now a graphics assistant at Formula 1. The session included a Q&A, where students could ask how their UCFB degree could help them pursue careers in media, marketing, or business within motor racing.
Much was discussed about how the sport and industry continues to grow, particularly regarding career opportunities.
Experience at the Racetrack
Students then had the amazing experience of heading outside to see the iconic racetrack, where test runs were happening that day.

Exploring the Silverstone Museum
The afternoon was spent at the Silverstone Museum, where students learned about the history of motor racing and the track itself. From the venue's foundations at RAF Silverstone to a hall of legendary cars and bikes, the museum tour culminated with an interactive experience for students. They participated in a driving simulator around a virtual reality copy of Silverstone, as well as a Scalextric racing competition.
