Unlocking Economic Growth: The Power of Career Guidance in the UK

Importance of Quality Career Guidance

Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald emphasized the critical role of quality career advice and guidance in stimulating economic growth. This statement was made during the launch of the Career Development Institute’s (CDI) ā€˜Valuing Careers’ campaign at Parliament Buildings.

The 'Valuing Careers' Campaign

The ā€˜Valuing Careers’ campaign is based on a comprehensive YouGov survey involving over 5,000 UK working-age adults. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the value of career development not only for individuals but also for the economy and society as a whole.

Insights from the Minister

Dr. Archibald stated, ā€œGood career guidance helps people to get on the right path, realize their potential, and contribute to the economy. I want to pay tribute to careers advisers for the professional service they provide and would encourage anyone thinking about a new career to avail of this advice.ā€

Research Findings by CDI

David Morgan, Chief Executive of the CDI, highlighted that their ā€˜Valuing Careers’ research shows that career guidance is a powerful tool for career progression. It helps individuals develop new skills, take on new responsibilities, and ultimately increase their income, all of which contribute to the economy.
