Unlocking Future Careers: Insights from Winsford Academy's Thriving Careers Fayre

A Glimpse into Future Opportunities

Students in Winsford have been presented with a fantastic opportunity to explore their career options beyond school. Winsford Academy organized an engaging Careers Fayre for its year 10 and 11 pupils, inviting families to join in the exploration of future possibilities.

On January 16, over 40 exhibitors from various sectors, including local and national businesses, colleges, universities, and training providers, gathered to interact with students. Notable employers included NHS, Bentley, Tiger Trailers, Kier Construction, Weaver Vale Housing Trust, and Morrisons.

The academy emphasized the importance of communication, encouraging students to engage with employers about the skills, qualifications, and experience sought after in potential apprentices and employees. This interaction allowed students to understand how their GCSE studies relate to various career paths and the training opportunities available.

Karen Wray, the careers advisor at Winsford Academy, alongside Jo Tringham, the assistant principal for careers and PSHE, noted the positive atmosphere of the event and the keen interest shown by students in discovering available opportunities.

The event was instrumental in helping both parents and pupils gain insights into the diverse routes available post-GCSE, including A-levels, T-levels, degrees, trades, and apprenticeships. Winsford Academy is now part of the Young Chamber, which aims to foster connections between students and employers, facilitating networking and workplace visits in the future.
