Unlocking Green Career Opportunities: North Lincolnshire's £1M Grant Initiative

North Lincolnshire's Green Initiative
North Lincolnshire has been honored with a £1M plus grant aimed at training local individuals for future industries. This pilot initiative will focus on areas with promising clean energy opportunities and equip people with the necessary skills as we transition towards net zero.
The primary goal is to identify and implement local strategies that effectively build a skilled workforce to support the UK's Clean Energy mission.
Supporting Local Talent
The grant aims to assist hundreds of individuals in enhancing their skills and preparing for emerging industries, particularly in green energy jobs.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, stated: “The Government has made it clear these grants are going to areas where net zero has the potential for major job losses. With the future of the steel works in Scunthorpe still uncertain, and businesses facing rising taxes, this is a challenging time for the region. We are collaborating with British Steel to develop surplus land at the steelworks to harness new technology and create green jobs.”
Future Planning
“Master planning is underway to attract high-paid and high-skilled jobs to the area—utilizing new technologies to foster green industry. This grant will help us prepare local people for these new roles. We welcome this investment that will empower local citizens with the skills needed to leverage new technologies.”
