Unlocking Opportunities: Doncaster's Initiative to Connect Employers and Schools

The South Yorkshire Careers Hub is inviting Doncaster employers from all sectors to participate in local school engagement initiatives.

What is a Careers Hub?

Careers Hubs are a national initiative funded by The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) aimed at fostering collaboration among local employers, training and apprenticeship providers, and Local Authorities. This initiative is designed to facilitate high-quality and meaningful Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG), ensuring that every young person can find their best next step.

The South Yorkshire Careers Hub aims to strengthen connections between employers, schools, colleges, and training providers, enhancing careers education and providing meaningful work experiences to support young people's educational journeys and career aspirations.

On a local level, the Hub supports Doncaster schools with careers education and employer engagement, filling gaps in local provision and innovating experiences that meet the needs of both schools and employers. The goal is to ensure that every young person is supported in their next steps, whether that be further education, training, or employment.

The Hub is an excellent opportunity to connect educators and employers, providing young people with valuable insights into the world beyond the classroom. Engaging with industry specialists enhances schools' Careers programs by allowing them to tap into the expertise of various sectors. Regular interactions with employers help young people gain exposure to essential skills required in the workplace, while employers can develop new talent pipelines and address skills gaps.

All Doncaster employers are encouraged to participate, with particular emphasis on sectors that currently have lower representation:

Training and Support Initiatives

The Careers Hub also offers training and support for educators and employers, helping to bridge the gap between education and employment. This includes leading school engagement initiatives such as:

• The Give an Hour Campaign
• The Enterprise Adviser Network
• Cornerstone Employers
• Teacher Encounters
• The Employer Standards
