Job Summary

Assembly Solutions is one of the UK’s leading sub-contract manufacturers specialising in plug and play wiring solutions and we are looking for a technical engineer to join our technical team.

The successful candidate’s primary role will be preparing and creating production part approval documentation (PPAP) as part of a new product integration (NPI) process, Quality checking technical specifications for accuracy and compliance, including CAD drawings, wiring schematics, wiring schedules and bills of materials as well as maintaining process tracking records.

The successful candidate will also be required to help support production & our clients in closing out the approval process and making the product production ready.

From time to time the successful candidate will be required to change, amend and update CAD based technical drawings, Part numbers, Bills of materials and other technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Documentation

·        Create, prepare and maintain PPAP documentation.

·        Ensure that all documentation is compliant with internal and external standards.

·        Ensure all documentation is accurate and reflects the latest design changes and specifications.

·        Ensure that Bills of materials are accurate and up to date.

·        Ensure that all documentation is at the correct revision control.

Drawing and Schematics Management

·        Create and modify detailed CAD drawings where required.

·        Ensure that drawings & schematics are comprehensive and easily understood by manufacturing departments and other technical teams.

·        Manage and organise all drawing files and documentation.

Quality Assurance

·        Review technical documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

·        Implement and follow quality control processes for all technical documents.

·        Conduct audits of BOMs, drawings, and schematics to identify and correct any discrepancies.

Collaboration

·        Work closely with customer design engineers, production teams, and other departments to gather necessary information for documentation updates.

·        Provide technical support and expertise to cross-functional teams as needed.

·        Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure smooth workflow and information sharing.

Continuous Improvement

·        Identify opportunities for improving documentation processes and implement best practices.

·        Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technology advancements related to technical documentation and CAD software.

·        Propose and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of technical documentation.

Requirements

·        Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Drafting or equivalent work experience.

·        Relevant certifications or professional training in CAD software is a plus.

·        Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical documentation, PPAP preparation or CAD drafting role.

·        Experience in updating and managing BOMs, drawings, and schematics.

·        Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other relevant technical tools.

·        Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

·        Excellent organisational and time management skills.

·        Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

·        In-depth knowledge of technical documentation standards and best practices.

·        Proficient in Excel and Microsoft office.

·        Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to product design and manufacturing.

Advantage

·        Experience within electrical manufacturing.

·        Experience using Arcadia CAD software.

·        Understanding or certification of IPC620 standards.

·        Experience or familiarity in producing Production part approval (PPAP’s) documentation.
