About the role Oversees and directs all site quality activities in alignment with operational, financial, and organisational targets. Guides product safety, quality control, quality assurance, laboratory services, and quality administration at the Glasgow site, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively. Provides coordination and guidance to ensure that production quality meets required standards and is fully acceptable to customers. Key responsibilities
- Oversees the day‑to‑day management of site quality systems, procedures, and practices to ensure consistent best practice and compliance with customer requirements, legislation, and GMP standards.
- Manages document traceability, audits, customer liaison/visits, site hygiene practices/schedules, and other quality‑related systems to ensure readiness for internal and external audits at all times.
- Oversees the departmental budget and all relevant Key Performance Indicators, and contributes to the development and implementation of quality and hygiene KPIs for the site.
- Supervises, directs, and coordinates all direct reports and their teams. Handles all people‑related matters, including motivating, delegating, performance management, coaching, appraisals, recruitment, and identifying and arranging job‑related and development training. Promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement by contributing to the development of quality systems and strategies.
- Aligns and consolidates technical and quality systems, procedures, and practices across sites to ensure consistent best practice, including standardising HACCP, food safety, hygiene practices, and internal auditing systems.
- Directs and coordinates the investigation of complaints related to site production, including reporting, communication, and corrective actions in line with the site’s customer complaint procedure.
- Develops, maintains, and coordinates weekly and periodic quality reports with trend evaluation for both site management and production teams.
- Oversees choices regarding non‑conforming product and the rework of rejected stock.
- Directs and coordinates the operation of the site’s product recall and crisis management procedures.
- Develops, manages, and coordinates the training needs identification process covering food hygiene standards, HACCP, hygiene training, and other quality‑related requirements for all site employees.
- Coordinates the timely and efficient provision of information to customers (certificates, self‑audit questionnaires, reports, general enquiries, etc.).
- Contributes to broader site‑level processes and activities within the Site Management Team.
- Offers guidance to other sites on best practice and participates in relevant audits and customer visits across Operations to assist the Technical Manager.
- Completes training and delivers training to others as identified by management to meet current or future requirements.

Qualifications and skills
- HND/Degree (or equivalent standard) in an appropriate scientific or other relevant discipline / equivalent experience.
- Few years’ experience within Quality Assurance.
- Few years’ experience/familiarisation working within a food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable administrative and clerical skills and proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) at an intermediate level.
- Experience in coordinating HACCP systems/fundamentals and GMPs.
- Well‑developed communication skills – able to present written and verbal reports clearly to the intended audience. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts and stakeholders at all levels.
- Customer focused – demonstrates strong communication and relationship‑building skills (written and verbal).
- Acts as a credible customer‑facing representative of Kerry.
- Finisher‑completer with strong attention to detail.
