Where will you be working? At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. Want to come and be a part of it? We are seeking a Commercial Assistants to join our expanding commercial team, supporting the delivery of major substation infrastructure projects in Swansea. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of cost management across our projects, working closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, and our clients. This is a hybrid role which requires a minimum of 3 days on site. Driving licence is required.What will you be doing?

  • Manage the monthly cost verification and reconciliation process, ensuring all Defined Costs are fully evidenced and compliant with the contract cost verification/reconciliation process.
  • Collation and validation of monthly costs
  • Input into monthly CVR process
  • Support the QS with subcontractor applications and payment notices
  • Manage and collate weekly timesheets and review against the forecast
  • Work with the QS to manage, log, and close out cost client queries
  • Maintain the Disallowed Cost risk register.
  • Uphold the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in all commercial records.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong Excel and data management skills; confident handling cost and invoice information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
  • Previous experience working in a commercial, accounting or finance team
  • Understanding (or willingness to learn) the principles of the NEC4 contract, particularly Option E.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with commercial and operational colleagues.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a construction, utilities, or engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of cost management systems (e.g. Fastdraft, Oracle, or similar).
  • Exposure to cost-reimbursable or open-book contract environments.
