General Manager

Located in Halifax, West Yorkshire, Orange Bikes are firmly established in the cycle industry as a leading manufacturer of high-end bicycles, since 1988.

We’re looking for a General Manager to join our dedicated team.

The roles & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Champion our company values to create a positive, high-performing culture. Ensure full compliance with legal, health, safety, and GDPR regulations.

· Oversee management of daily fabrication activities, bicycle assembly and general admin, ensuring production schedules align with customer orders and project deadlines.

· Drive business expansion by identifying new sales opportunities, taking ownership of inventory allocations and oversee sales order processing. Ensuring a smooth efficient process from order to fulfilment.

· Work with the sales team to analyse market trends, client, and competitor intelligence, and identify growth opportunities.

· Coordinate the movement of raw materials & finished goods while overseeing warehouse operations to ensure timely dispatch.

· Liaise daily with the finance team assessing cost control and provide financial reporting to other members of the senior team.

· Ensure the facility adheres to Health and Safety (HSE) legislation.

· Recruit, mentor, and manage the performance of both office staff and fabrication teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

· Provide regular data-driven reports regarding operational performance and risk management.

Desired Skills & Experience

· Educated to a degree standard or equivalent experience and knowledge.

· Proficiency with project management, team collaboration tools and EPOS systems for tracking production, inventory, and sales. Experience with Sage is beneficial.

· Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and motivational leadership.

· Strong and timely decision-making skills in fast paced and/or complex environments.

· Ability to solve problems and empower teams to overcome challenges.

· High-level knowledge of the products and services offered by Orange Bikes (desirable).

· Able to show good all-round understanding of the bicycle industry, the positioning of the company and opportunities within the market.

· Company compliance processes, including but not restricted to Customs/Export Control/Anti-Bribery/Sanctioned territories.

· Contractual awareness coupled with sound commercial experience.

· Leads by example, demonstrates honesty and integrity.

· Results orientated, able to focus oneself and others on achieving specific outcomes.

· Driven, energetic and committed to achieving goals and continuous improvement.

· Attend some public and trade shows as needed.

What we need from you

· Previous experience within a General Manager position.

· To work efficiently as part of a team and independently

· A passion and thorough understanding of all things bikes

· Experience within the manufacturing sector

· Excellent communication skills backed up by competent IT skills across Microsoft office

· Well organised, self-motivated & results orientated

· A four-day working week. Our office hours are Mon-Thurs 07:00-17:00

Our working week is 39 hours Monday-Thursday. Due to the nature of the role, some flexibility will be required from time to time to meet business requirements.
