Role PurposeĀ 

The Assistant Head of Programmes supports the Head of Programmes with the operational coordination, delivery and quality of Pinc College’s Post16 study programmes across designated campuses. The role ensures high quality teaching, inclusive practice, good student progress and a consistently positive campus experience.

Working under the direction of the Head of Programmes, the Deputy provides day to day leadership of campus operations, safeguarding support, SEND implementation, data accuracy, and team coordination. The Assistant Head of Programmes acts as an operational lead in the Head of Programmes’ absence and contributes to continuous improvement across curriculum, quality and student experience.

Key Responsibilities1. Programmes Delivery & Curriculum Coordination

  • Support the Head Programmes to implement timetables and deliver the Engage, Creative Enterprise and Supported Internship programmes.
  • Ensure sessions, projects and unit delivery follow Pinc Methodology, Pedagogy and SEND Strategy.
  • Maintain consistency of programmes delivery across the campus, ensuring high expectations for students and team.
  • Assist with gathering and using data for curriculum planning, student progress and programmes improvement.
  • Support the Head of Programmes and Lead Teacher with the coordination of schemes of work, session templates and assessment plans.
  • Ensure programmes, campus and role specific targets and deadlines are met

2. Quality of Education (Ofsted EIF)

  • Monitoring of progress through feedback and mentoring support.
  • Responsible for review cycles, supporting the Head of Programmes and Quality Leads to raise standards.
  • Responsible for the tracking of student progress, attendance, destinations and engagement, escalating concerns where required within team meetings and or with the Head of Programmes.
  • Assist with preparations for internal reviews and Ofsted readiness.
  • Deliver small groups or 121 sessions with Students as directed by programmes Leads

3. Safeguarding & Wellbeing

  • Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead for the campus (Level 3 training required).
  • Support the Head of Programmes in managing disclosures, recordkeeping and multiagency work.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment and embed Prevent, EDI and wellbeing strategies into day to day practice.
  • Ensure team follow safeguarding processes, receiving reminders, updates and support where needed.

4. SEND Support & EHCP Implementation

  • Responsible for SEND strategy interventions and methodology
  • Ensure application of universal strategies across the campus utilising neuro affirming training and trauma informed practice.
  • Assist in the consultation and enrolment process, gathering information to assess whether Pinc can meet need, as directed by the Head of Programmes
  • Contribute to reviewing EHCP/ALN documentation and preparing student care plans.
  • Coordinate ILP targets and evidence with teachers and Progress Support team.
  • Support the Head of Programmes to complete high quality Annual Reviews within required timescales.
  • Help maintain accurate records of progress against EHCP outcomes on MIS systems.

5. Team Support & Operational Leadership

  • Support recruitment, induction and onboarding of new team members following safer recruitment principles.
  • Provide day to day operational guidance to team and act as first point of contact for campus queries.
  • Support supervision, performance reviews and professional development by gathering evidence and feedback.
  • Help identify skill gaps and support the organisation of CPD sessions.
  • Promote a collaborative, supportive and inclusive team culture.
  • Model and uphold Pinc policies, safeguarding expectations and professional standards.

6. Employer, Cultural & Industry Partnerships

  • Support the Head of Programmes to maintain relationships with employers, cultural partners and industry professionals.
  • Promote and model Pinc Culture and Values with Team, Students and all stakeholders
  • Assist in coordinating work experience, placements and employerled curriculum projects.
  • Support job coaches and team involved in Supported Internships.
  • Support in utilise local cultural buildings, community resources, and local assets including FE/HE to enrich learning.

7. Compliance, MIS & Data Accuracy

  • Ensure accurate daily recording of attendance, safeguarding notes, wellbeing logs, progress and behaviour data.
  • Support the Head of Programmes to maintain team records (supervisions, meeting notes, actions).
  • Ensure programmes hours, sessions and timetables are followed and reported correctly.
  • Support liaison with MIS, exams and finance teams to maintain clean data and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and procurement policies.
  • Assist with the accuracy of qualification registrations and learning aims under direction from Pinc Exams.

8. Campus Operations & Student Experience

  • Support the coordination of campus calendars, communications, briefings and student progress meetings.
  • Assist with bursary processes, FSM and other campus level financial procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with families, carers and external professionals.
  • Contribute and positively promote to enrolment, taster days, induction, results days and progression events.
  • Promote student voice, involvement activities and cocreation opportunities.
  • Support the delivery of parent/carer and student forums.

9. Cross Campus Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Heads of Programmes and Assistant Heads of Programmes and central teams to ensure consistent practice.
  • Share best practice and contribute to collegewide improvement projects.
  • Support cover arrangements and cross campus support when required.

10. General Duties

  • Student facing working closely with the teacher and Programmes Support
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and confidential information in line with GDPR.
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Always follow health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • Travel between campuses as required.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Head of Programmes or Head of College.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential

  • Level 3 qualification in Education, Youth Work or a related field
  • ICT qualification or evidence of strong IT skills
  • Level 2 English & Maths, or willingness to work towards
  • First Aid qualification, or willingness to work towards
  • Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce)

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd or equivalent)
  • Management qualification and/or training
  • Degree or equivalent
  • SEND qualification
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

ExperienceEssential

  • Experience working with students with SEND and EHCPs
  • Experience in Post-16 education or specialist provision
  • Experience leading or supporting educational teams
  • Ability to manage and support a team
  • Understanding of the Ofsted Inspection Framework
  • Ability to build strong internal and external partnerships
  • Experience in performance management
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding responsibilities
