About PUBLIC

PUBLIC is a digital transformation partner committed to helping the public sector turn innovative ideas into practical solutions. Combining our expertise around government policy, delivery and technology, we aim to build a public sector that is powered by new technologies and innovative ways of working to achieve better outcomes for citizens. This mission is what drove us to create PUBLIC and is what continues to drive everything we do.

We started PUBLIC because we were collectively frustrated that the technology revolution we were witnessing was not having a positive enough impact on the public sector. With the ambition to put ‘GovTech’ on the map, PUBLIC emerged as a trailblazer in bridging this gap between government and innovative tech.

Today, PUBLIC works with a diverse range of organisations including the UK Ministry of Defence, the UK Department for Business and Trade, the European Commission, the Crown Commercial Service, National Grid and the NHS, to name a few. We support these organisations with their digital transformation through our full suite of services, delivering strategic advising, learning and digital upskilling programmes, digital product delivery and policy monitoring and evaluation.

We are proud to be a go-to digital transformation partner for the public sector and continue to work rigorously to provide greater value for our clients and achieve greater impacts on the services they deliver for citizens. As we continue to evolve as a business, this vision to build a better public sector will remain our north star - informing our decisions, guiding our growth and energising our dedicated team of innovators.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:

PUBLIC is deeply committed to maintaining a diverse, inclusive and safe workplace that embraces individuals from all walks of life. We are an equal opportunity employer and actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This includes, but is not limited to, those with neurodiversity, disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals from all ethnic and racial backgrounds and veterans. We believe that a wide range of voices enriches our team and drives innovation.

As a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we are dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces community and welcome applications from service leavers, reservists, veterans, and their families. We are also committed to creating an environment free from discrimination, where everyone feels respected and can thrive.

Candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. To facilitate an equitable hiring process and minimise unconscious bias, we blind review all applications in the initial stages through questions thoughtfully designed to help you demonstrate your skills and unique potential.

The Role

As a Senior Associate, you will be a vital part of our team, empowering organisations to harness the power of technology in tackling critical strategic and operational challenges. You will take a lead role in delivering impactful work, ensuring our clients can navigate complex digital transformations effectively.

You will delve deep into client needs through rigorous research and analysis, evaluating the feasibility and impact of technological interventions within broader organisational and industry landscapes. Your work will involve synthesising complex findings into compelling, client-ready deliverables that provide evidence-based recommendations for technology adoption and implementation. You will be responsible for leading specific workstreams, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet the strategic needs of our partners.

Your focus will be on mastering technical delivery and workstream management while developing into a strategic partner for our clients. You will collaborate effectively within our dynamic and supportive team to achieve meaningful impacts on the services and systems that drive value for users and organisations alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the successful planning and execution of defined workstreams or end-to-end project delivery, with the level of autonomy and leadership scaling based on your experience and capability.
  • Contribute to or lead the creation of persuasive proposals and bids, leveraging your research skills or market expertise to communicate value propositions and drive new business growth.
  • Establish and nurture strong client relationships, acting as a reliable point of contact for project delivery or as a strategic partner advising on complex outcomes.
  • Work closely with colleagues across different departments to ensure seamless project delivery and effective knowledge sharing.
  • Go beyond foundational knowledge to develop and apply a specialised understanding of a chosen topic area that aligns with PUBLIC's strategic goals. This includes contributing to thought leadership, advising colleagues on complex issues, and enhancing the quality of project deliverables.
  • Support the growth and development of the team through coaching, mentoring, or direct people management, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in research and analysis, using both qualitative and quantitative techniques to inform recommendations.
  • Experience working in similar client-facing roles
  • Experience in a line manager or people management role, with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
  • Proven experience with stakeholder management, successfully building and maintaining relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience in business development
  • Ability to work proactively and autonomously, effectively managing competing time commitments and varied responsibilities
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to gather and use both qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform arguments and recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience publishing or presenting work to external audiences
  • Proficiency in using both Google Workspace and MS Office Suite tools
