Technical Support and Estimator

As a technical support engineer, you will be responsible for dealing with both internal/external technical enquiries and the quotation of various pumping equipment and systems, both service and sales. You will also support other members of the manufacturing and service team with daily activities, including processing orders, purchasing, booking engineer site visits, workshop build instructions, etc.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow within a multi-disciplined technical department and develop new skills as you further integrate within the team and respective processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Estimation & Quotation of equipment, including but not limited to: Replacement Pumps, Cold Water Booster Sets, Pressurisation Equipment, Pump Spares, Service & Commissioning Visits.
• Technical support to service & workshop engineers, clients and internal/external sales staff.
• Sales order processing for built-to-order products and services/site visits.
• Purchase order processing for any necessary parts required for production & service.
• Issuing workshop build instruction documentation – build & test certificate templates, etc.
• Bill of Materials processing for built products.
• Booking engineer site visits into the service calendar where necessary.
• Ensure all documentation is completed following our quality management system.
• Ensuring & promoting high levels of health & safety standards.
• Ensuring & promoting high levels of environmental standards.

Other Requirements

• Good integration within the team to provide cover during periods of prolonged/unplanned absence of other members.

• To comply with all legal requirements in respect of the health and safety of yourself and others.

Education/QualificationsEssential:

• Minimum Grade C or above in GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline – eg A Levels, national certificate/diploma.

Preferable:

• Level 4 qualification in engineering discipline – eg HNC, CertHE, higher apprenticeship.
• BPMA – Essentials of Pumping Technology.

Work ExperienceEssential:

• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Experience in the pump industry – awareness of large manufacturers.
• Working within an engineering environment.

Preferable:

• Experience with packaged cold water booster sets, pressurisation equipment.
• Awareness of off-site construction.
• Experience with reactive enquiries – ie quoting parts for emergency breakdowns, etc.

Professional SkillsEssential:

• Competent with Office 365 (Outlook, Excel) and general IT literacy.
• Basic knowledge of pumps & associated equipment and their operating principles.
• Pump selection & datasheet interpretation – performance curves, electrical data, etc.
• Interpretation of Engineering Drawings.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure.

Preferable:

• Previous Sage 200 experience.
• Working with a project management system.
• Experience with Bills of Materials.
